Dear Etrain,
Dear Etrain,
It felt like the odds were against me this year for family photos. We set a date with Auntie Ansley , but then you got sick. Finding another date was tough as it was getting closer to Christmas, but Ansley had one weekend morning available so we took it. But about a week earlier it was forecasted to rain that day. The day for our photo shoot came, and we lucked out. No rain!
Dear Etrain,
I can't believe we're less than a month away from you becoming a FOUR YEAR OLD! Wow. Just the other day, this notification popped up reminding me of this moment two years ago. In this photo you were still one year old, a month away from your 2nd birthday. It feels like not that long ago and forever ago at the same time. Look at those sweet chubby cheeks. You were so little. I love the little boy you're growing up to be, but sometimes I wish I could freeze time, or even go back just to have you as my baby boy forever. I suppose you'll always be my baby boy, but the days of baby talk and chubby cheeks are long gone. Can't say I miss the diapers though. ;)
Dear Etrain,
Another successful Halloween is in the books! If you look back on last year's Halloween post, it's all very similar. This year began with the pumpkin patch. I heard the one at Irvine Railroad was really fun, and I wanted to fit it in before our trip to Hawaii, which was right in the middle of the month.
We went to Hawaii! Well, specifically Kauai, our favorite of the Hawaiian islands. This was actually your second time visiting Kauai, but you don't remember the first trip. You were four months old and it was your first vacation ever.
Dear Etrain,
We live in a beautiful place. Not only is it pretty to look at, but the weather is really nice. While the rest of the country is dealing with cold, rain, and maybe even snow in some places, we're still loving our warm, sunny weather. That said, we had some nice warm weather adventures this month.
Dear Etrain,
The fun from last month continued right on through to this month. This sure has been a great summer so far. I hope you realize how lucky you are one day. :) But really, I'm having so much fun that it's a total pleasure to spoil you with exciting adventures and experiences. And we don't necessarily have to go anywhere to have a good time. These photos below are of you and Dada after you helped him with some yard work. Pretty sure this is when we planted the pumpkins. I didn't get photos of that so I'm not sure, but more on that later.
Dear Etrain,
This month started out with Father's Day and a visit from Grammy! We kept to your usual schedule while Grammy was here, but we did have a few outings including a dinner at one of our favorite places in Laguna Beach. You and Dada always seem to find a way to have fun while waiting at dinner. Father's Day was also that weekend and we made sure to treat Dada.
Dear Etrain,
Well, I'm back at it. No promises I'll keep this regular, but I do want to make sure I eventually get up all your baby months onto this blog. You were just too cute to not post about. The sad thing about doing this so late, is that I don't remember all the details now. I'll just share what I can.
Dear Etrain,
You're three and a half years old! I can't believe it. How did you grow up so fast? If I asked you, you'd say it's taking a long time to be four, but I wish we could slow this down. I look back on these old posts all the time, just enjoying seeing what you were like back then. But I sure do enjoy you now too. Sometimes I want you to grow up so we can do more things together, but then I remember how fast time seems to be going, and I wish I could freeze it so I can keep you just as you are. I bought this sign for your room where you can change what it says on it, and the first quote I put up said "Let me love you a little longer before you're not little anymore." It's a good reminder for me because one day you won't want me to help you put on shoes, or read you a book, or cuddle you, or kiss your boo boos. One day, you may not like me. You may go through the teenage phase of hating your parents. Oh man, I hope that doesn't happen. Ok, I'm taking a long tangent, but my point is, you're the coolest little kid, I love every bit of you, and I'm trying to soak it all up.
Dear Etrain,
We just got back from the most awesome vacation. Your dad and I wanted to go somewhere new on vacation. Because your attention span on an airplane is limited, we were trying to think of a destination within a 2-3 flight radius. I had never been to Portland and it had been a while since Dada had been. Also, we have a friend that lives there now so it'd be great to see her and her family while we're up there.
Dear Etrain,
We had another rough start to our month. The cold from last month was still going strong and all of us had it. The worst part was the cough. None of us seemed to be able to get rid of it fast enough. As I write this, we have all only been healthy for this last week or so. It took a looong time to go away completely. Needless to say, we've been coming up with lots of activities to do at home. One of which is the ATV. It's a remote controlled ATV guy that you got for your second birthday. It was a little too advanced for you at the time, so we put it in a closet...and forgot about it until now. You LOVE that thing. You get a little frustrated when it doesn't drive in the direction you want, but it's still your new favorite.
Dear Etrain,
Well this month started out with my birthday and another cold. Ugh. Fortunately the cold wasn't that bad, and I didn't catch it until after my birthday festivities were over, so that was nice. On my actual birthday, we did our usual thing during the day, then we met Dada for dinner. You two are fun dinner dates.
Dear Etrain,
This post and this day was for you (how can I not make a whole blog post about your first Monster Jam?!). Anyone who knows you well, knows how much you LOVE monster trucks. You carry them everywhere. You play with them daily. They are your number one toy. We even got you a Grave Digger Monster Truck ornament for our Christmas tree this year. We don't let you watch many videos, but your treat is monster truck videos. After you go #2 on the potty you get to watch a few minutes of Monster Jam. When you get your hair cut, we let you watch monster truck videos because you'll stay still for the hair dresser...and it makes you look forward to getting your hair cut.
Dear Etrain,
You are such a fun little dude. Your personality is just bursting with fun. You are so sweet and affectionate, but also silly and playful. Other than toddler tantrums, I wish you could stay this age forever (and I suppose your tantrums aren't really even that bad). I suppose I wish that of every stage of your life, but it just makes me sad to think that one day you won't want me to carry you, or hold you, or read you books and sing the ABC song before bed. The older you get, the more I really cherish these blog posts. I go back and read them all the time. I've even gone back and added in more videos lately. For some reason I recorded them, but then didn't post them on here, which is so strange because they are the best. Most times we/you aren't doing anything special at all, but it's a moment I otherwise wouldn't remember without it. That said, that's pretty much what this past month was like. Nothing really super exciting happened, but we had a lot of fun anyway.
Dear Etrain,
As I alluded to last month, this month started fun, but still pretty rough. You had your annual doctor's appointment and it was prefect since you were still getting over that flu. The doctor said everything was great (31 lbs. and 38.5 in. tall) except you had a minor ear infection and needed antibiotics. I wasn't very excited to give you antibiotics, but I also know you don't want to mess with ear infections...so we did it. Let's just say it was the longest 10 days of my life. You had already been cranky for the past two weeks, but I'm positive that this medication took you to a whole new level.
