3 Years, 10 Months

Dear Etrain,

We live in a beautiful place. Not only is it pretty to look at, but the weather is really nice. While the rest of the country is dealing with cold, rain, and maybe even snow in some places, we're still loving our warm, sunny weather. That said, we had some nice warm weather adventures this month.

You and Dada enjoying your homemade juice.
We were able to fit in one more adventure with your buddy at the beach. You two love playing over there. While I don't love that you two like playing in the area where the water runoff drains down, you kids can play for hours and are totally entertained and content. It's better than worrying about you two in the ocean, and it seems to make you so happy.

Soccer class has changed locations. We're now at a spot where there's a bunch of construction noise, but the field is the fake grass, so there's no mud. After class one day, you kids piled into the nets and made this fort. It was to cute, of course all us parents had to take photos.

After nap one day, you asked me to take your photo. First you wanted to be with bunny. Then you told me you were going to give me a "good smile", but once I started to take photos I got this. That'll do. Goofball.

Dada got tickets to one of the last Angels baseball games of the season, and they were great seats. Baseball isn't really Dada or my favorite sport, but we enjoy going to the game every once in a while. At the stadium there's fun food and drinks, and lots of people watching which makes being at the game more entertaining. I have a feeling you were on the same page. You were a little bored at times, but liked all the action around us...and the treats. We finished a whole bag of kettle corn and you were a great helper.

By the way, this wasn't your first baseball game. We took you to a game when you were a baby. It was a day game and really hot and sunny outside. Dada and I took turns holding you in our lap. When one of us started sweating, we'd pass you to the other person. You didn't really care about the game, but it was just nice for Dada and I to get out.

Your teacher started sending us weekly emails recapping what you worked on and learned in school that week. I LOVE these emails because when I ask you what you do at school, you tell me you played. I can't think of a time you told me about something you learned. So, it's really nice to see what you are working on at school, especially if there's something we can continue at home. Anyway, this week I think you were working on cooking, and therefore measuring and teamwork. I guess you kids made applesauce one day, and apparently it had a BUNCH of cinnamon because a certain boy we know (ahem, you) poured almost the whole thing of cinnamon in the bowl. Whoops!

I'm sure I've mentioned how cool our neighbors are. We've been doing lots of activities with them here and there. This time we met some of them at Salt Creek Beach because it has that great grassy hill. Everyone brought their own dinner and drinks and we watched the sunset. You had a blast playing ball with the other kids who came...and random ones at there that you just met. It was a beautiful and relaxing way to end our weekend.

I had heard about a place called Circus Trix. It's one of those indoor trampoline places and I had avoided it because every time I saw photos or video of people there, it looked packed. You're just too small to go to a place like that. You could really get hurt with all the big kids or adults there. Well, I learned they have a toddler time every morning so I invited a couple of your buddies to join us and try it out. Needless to say it was a terrific success. They place was EMPTY so you three had it all to yourselves. You guys ran everywhere and had the best time...and boy were you tired for nap that day, especially since you had swim after.

Your school held their annual book fair and during that time they always invite the grandparents to come read to the class. Of course Nana signed up and loved reading to your class (combined with another class).

We had a vacation planned in the middle of October, so I wanted to fit in a pumpkin patch adventure early on before our trip. Check out this post for more info about the pumpkin patch and other Halloween activities we did.

I may have mentioned that your soccer classes are only six weeks long, so this was the photo we took at the end of this last six weeks.

Your school was having school photos taken again, and this time I didn't have a shirt for you to wear. I just haven't bought you and fancy clothes lately, so I asked Nana to borrow some she has you wear to church when you're with them. My favorite is the mustache shirt, which happens to be your least favorite. You really didn't want to put it on, but you eventually gave in. These were the only photos you let me take before leaving for class. The school photos should be much cuter.

The rest of these photos just recap our usual stuff. We had a play date at the park, you went to swim (and looked so cute in your robe), and you went to school. By the way, I was really impressed that you put most of that firetruck puzzle together with Noah and no adult help.

The month ended with a magical vacation in Kauai. Read this post for all the juicy details and gorgeous photos.

We were in Kauai when I was supposed to take your monthly photo in the chair, so I took it waaay later than normal. I was happy when you gave me a decent smile to start, so the photo shoot went quick. You had to pose with that car...it's the souvenir you got in Kauai. It's a red Volkswagen Beetle with a surfboard on top...and monster truck-like wheels.

I love you sweet boy.

Love,
Mama
