Happy 4th Birthday!

Dear Etrain,

Oh how you were waiting for this day. Well, these two days. For months you had been asking when it was your birthday, when you were going to be older...when you were going to get presents. W\For months we've been compiling a list of things you wanted for your birthday. For maybe half a year or longer you said you wanted a bounce house at your birthday party. You have been so excited and we did our best to make it the best.

Your birthday morning began with doughnuts. Chocolate sprinkles and glazed doughnut holes. You were very happy, but maybe not as happy as when we brought out your stack of presents. Lucky kid. One of your most requested presents was a remote controlled truck. Your last one took one too many jumps off the ramps and eventually broke, so we needed one very durable. Your dad hunted all over and found The Beast. I didn't get a picture of it, but you loved it. We spent the rest of the morning driving it out front before you had to go to school.

Yes, you had to go to school on your birthday, but I think it worked out for you. We took "big boy" yogurts to school so you could share with your class. Sounds like they sang happy birthday to you, and your teacher made you the cutest birthday crown. You wore it for days.

I picked you up from school, played after then went home to nap as usual. After nap we had to get you back to school because you had a Christmas performance. I'll write more about that later, but I will say you were the cutest. The CUTEST. After your performance we came home, played some cards, then had dinner and a delicious birthday cupcake.

The next day was your birthday party. The bounce house came early and you couldn't have been happier. Later your friends arrived and you maybe never stopped bouncing...until it was time for the piñata. The Batman piñata was a big hit - probably because your dad was so funny pulling it up and down while your friends tried to swing. And yes, this party was mostly made up of your friends. A few of mine came, but you also had a solid list of friends to invite. Ok, I made the list and invited them, but they were all buddies you go to school with and/or have play dates with. I'm pretty sure everyone had a great time.

By the way, the whole party was Batman themed. I may have mentioned that you don't really know much about Batman, but still you like him. You have shirts, underwear, books, and a toy or two that are Batman themed. Honestly, I was looking for a photo to use for your birthday invitation and thought this one from Halloween was perfect.

After your nap, we went back out for one last bounce. Dada and I joined you in there, and I had to admit that it was pretty fun. You had really wanted the bounce house that had a hoop and slide, and I understand why. We had a bunch of fun, right up until the guy came to take it away.

You couldn't wait to open all those presents, and let me tell you...you scored big time, kid. I didn't photo/record it all, but you got a couple RC cars, several Lego sets, some books, clothes and other awesome stuff. What a lucky boy you are.

More birthday cake after dinner.

I will say, I was really proud of you, son. With the exception of a little outburst/tantrum during the party, you were super cool the rest of the time. Both times you opened your presents you were so excited for everything you received. You were also really appreciative. You thanked us a bunch for your presents and party, and you told us several times how much you liked all your gifts from your friends. Not once did you complain, say you didn't like something, or ask for something else. Maybe it helped knowing Christmas was still coming, but I don't think that mattered. You were a sweet little boy and gave me enough hugs and kisses to prove it.

Happy birthday boo boo bear.

Love,
Mama
