Santa

Dear Etrain,

Today we went to see Santa. He decided to stop by Dada's work so all the kids in the daycare there, and anyone working at Dada's office can give him their Christmas wish list and take some photos. From the first photo you can tell you weren't too thrilled.

I hope you don't think we don't love you because we made you sit in his lap while you cried. We love you very much, but lots of babies cry when seeing Santa - probably because he just seems like a scary stranger with a white beard. Santa thought you were really cute though. He gave you a toy snowman and took note of your Christmas list. Your dad, being the fun guy he is, was also able to get you to smile for a few seconds. He was hopping around and making silly faces at you. Hooray for Dada!

After Santa we walked around and said hello to Dada's coworkers. You were really shy today, but shared some sweet smiles too. Everyone thought you were just the most adorable little boy all dressed up in your red sweater vest. You can thank Nana for that. She picked that outfit for you.

Seeing you with Santa this year makes me think about your first time seeing him. You were way too young to take you out so he stopped by our house to see you! You were barely a week old and precious little newborn (and too young to be scared of him yet!). He was only there briefly, but he wanted to meet you and make sure you two had a photo together.

Christmas season is such fun time of year. I'm especially excited to enjoy Christmas as a family this year - and every year after that. It'll be fun starting new traditions and watching you fall in love with the Christmas season too. We will have fun decorating the tree, putting up lights (thanks, Dada), singing Christmas carols, visiting with family, eating delicious meals, wrapping and opening gifts and more. Actually, we should be getting our tree this weekend! We'll have to be sure to hang the ornaments a little higher - you're a bit grabby these days.

Love,
Mama
