Saludos Desde México

Dear Etrain,

It has been a while since we went on a family vacation, so Dada and I decided to scoop you up and go to Mexico. We had some bumps along the way, but it was overall a wonderful trip...and I kind of wish we were still there.

Dada found this great condo right on the beach in a small, quiet town called Punta de Mita. The condo was huge, had a kitchen, big living room, three bedrooms and three bathrooms...in other words tons of space. AND a great view (this was taken from our room).

The condo building was pretty small so there weren't a ton of people. It had an infinity pool that overlooked the ocean and was right above a semi private beach. Well, the beach wasn't private, but since the town wasn't very busy, neither was the beach. There was a giant tree right in from of our building that offered the perfect shade for us on the beach...where you LOVED to play all day...which was how we spent our first full day there. We had bought some sand toys when we got to Mexico and it was the best $8 we spent the whole trip. You were entertained for hours and all you wanted to do was go to the beeeeach.

The next day we thought we were going on an adventure into town. Little did we know town wasn't very big and we ended up just 5 minutes down the road, but we still went to the beach. And again that afternoon. And when the sun was going down, we'd go to the pool and jacuzzi, which was my favorite because the pool was a tad cold for me. That night we went back to the restaurant across the street for dinner.

Going back a bit...the first day we got to town, it was pretty late so we only had a few minutes on the beach before the sun went down. We went to the restaurant across the street to check it out because we heard music playing. You had a blast burning off some energy running around the restaurant (which was really chill and everyone was fine with) and chasing the dogs and cats that were hanging around. You also became famous while showing off your dance moves (the band playing was pretty good). When we went back the next night the restaurant was much more empty (we were the only ones there most of the time) and there was just one guy singing and playing a keyboard. He asked us if we had any requests. Since the only song you really know is the ABC's, that's what we requested. The guy said he didn't know it so Dada offered for you guys to go up and sing it with the man. He didn't know the ABC song, so it was pretty funny.

The second full day was more beach, pool and a delicious dinner at a restaurant called Si Señor...the first night we got a good meal in you. Yay.

The next day we went on a real adventure and went to another town called Sayulita. This town was much more popular and busy. We got there mid morning and it was already packed with people. It's much more of a tourist destination. It was really pretty though. Very colorful. We checked out a few stores, ate some breakfast, then, you guessed it, went to the beach.

The last full day we took our biggest trip in to Puerto Vallarta, which was about an hour away. Now that is a big city! I head been there years ago and remembered a part of the city called the Malecon, which is just a nice boardwalk along the water. There were lots of stores, restaurants, and statues decorating the walkways. We found a wonderful Mexican restaurant for lunch and enjoyed a great meal before heading home. You were a tad bummed we didn't go to the beach in Puerto Vallarta so we made some time for it (and the pool) after nap and before dark.

We didn't even go to the beach, but somebody got worn out!
So in summary there was a ton of beach and pool time, which kept you very entertained...which made it really relaxing for us. And the little adventures around the area added some extra excitement to change things up. I'd say the only bummer was the cold I caught before we left (and dealt with the whole trip...boo) and the pool water (?) Dada drank the last day making him sick on the way home. But we survived the plane rides. You did great on the plane ride to Mexico and decent on the ride home (no nap = cranky kid. Hallelujah for empty flights and empty rows for you to play in.). Considering those, this may have been the easiest vacation with you yet. As long as we keep the plane rides short, I look forward to more vacations with you, kid. :)

Check out this video with little snippets from our trip.

Until next time.

Love,
Mama
