Stairs

Dear Etrain,

I've been worried about you and all the stairs in our house. Until recently we just kept you away from the stairs completely. Your crawl is just so fast now and you love to explore the house, so I figured it was time to try to start teaching you how to attack them safely. To my surprise, you seemed to catch on after one lesson.

Now, when you approach the stairs we sometimes don't even have to tell you "feet first". You just get on your belly and start pushing backwards to go down. Every once in a while you seem to get mixed up going in reverse and end up just pushing yourself around on your belly, but not necessarily in the right direction. It's really funny to watch. Either way, you're becoming a pro at sliding down and it's the coolest thing to watch. This isn't even the best video of it, but Dada and I wanted to try to capture the magic.

The other day you tried crawling back up from the bottom of the staircase and after a few steps you stopped. I think you forgot where you were because you turned and started to tumble. Of course, Dada was there to catch you, but you cried probably from being scared. Since then you've been a little more timid on the stairs (like in this video), but I'm glad. You have a whole lifetime to be a daredevil (please don't - you'll give me a heart attack), so no need to start now.

Love,
Mama
