19 Months Old

Dear Etrain,

First let's talk about your hair. It was turning into a mullet again and needed a trim. This time we tried taking you to Super Cuts (because the barber shop we went to first had an hour and a half wait. No reservations.). In her defense, the hair cutting lady (because I can't call her a hair stylist) had to deal with a wiggly, non-compliant customer (you), but OMG. I'm kinda sad. I want your shaggy hair back. I mean you have a cute little boy haircut and it's fine, but I should have spoken up when she started on the sides. The back I like. It needed to be trimmed. But the sides look hacked. She was trying to use a buzzer (whatever its called) which you didn't like, and it turned out to be a huge fail...in my opinion. And frankly I just didn't want the sides cut. I'm hoping that in a month it'll be back to longer hair and we can have some shag again.

Speaking of other things new, this past month we moved out of our house and are living in an apartment, we bought a new house (but we need to renovate it first, hence the apartment), your dad is starting a new job, and we took a mini vacation to Mexico. With all of these changes you have been doing great. You're my sweet little buddy that just tags along wherever we go. I love what an easy, cool kid you are.

And then there's No. This past month No is the word I hear most (with "shoe" as a close second). You used to say "No no no" in this cute soft baby voice. Now it's just No. You say it as sort of a question which kinda makes it cute, but you know how and when to use No and it can get a tad tiring. We're not 100% battling you yet, but geez kid, let up on the No. Or learn Yes.

Your vocabulary in general now consists of: Mama and Dada (and you use them to call us now, which I like), no, shoe (you and the shoes, oh my. You'll point to the shoes, play with the shoes, talk about he shoes all day long), fee (feet), sy (outside), ew (gross...or when pointing to the trash or cat box), baby (when eating yogurt because there's a baby on the package), two (every number is 2, although sometimes you count 2, 3), tactor (tractor), ruff (dog), ca (cat), ball, by (bike), more, key, choo choo (for train), nana (for Nana or banana), papa, poo poo, pee pee, shouw (shower), chee (cheese), bye bye, sea (seat), and of course ba (for up, down, and come with me). I'm sure there's more I can't think of. You love to babble. Sometimes you'll just go through all the words you know and yap away. So cute.

This month was filled with lots of packing so we tried to mix in some fun. We went to the beach a couple times, went on play dates, and celebrated Father's Day with a relaxing day at home as well as 4th of July at Auntie Allison's with Resi and Uncle Kevin. There was also plenty of silliness at home too.

Two last notable things I have to mention to keep it real. One day when getting you up from your nap I walked into you whimpering poo poo. Then I realized why I had smelled poo poo in the hall before even opening your door. You had a blowout from the back of your pants and you had gotten it on your hands and face, and it was all over your crib. Poor boy. From that day on you say poo poo when I change your diaper. The other was this tantrum (oh, there were others, but who wants to watch a bunch of videos of Ethan having tantrums. And yes I video them sometimes.).

Until next month my son.

Love,
Mama

P.S. Will you please stop throwing toys at my face? Thanks.
