2 Years, 3 Months Old

Dear Etrain,

You're such a big boy now! And you're all boy. You love to run, jump (which is more like a free fall), climb, play in the dirt, and play with trucks...all day long. Trucks (or cars, etc.) go with us everywhere. You have so much energy and I find myself making sure we run around and play outside a lot so you burn out that energy.

When we go to My Gym, we walk in you you just start to run around. It's so cute. You used to climb up on something tall, then sit and watch everyone else. Now, you're non-stop. You climb all over everything and sometimes just run around in circles. You're faster now too. I used to be able to walk fast behind you and keep up as you ran. Now, I have to speed up to catch up with you.

You are getting a little aggressive with the animals though, and it's crossing over with other kids too. You'll take choo choo or one of your trucks and run them into the dog or cat. You'll also hit them, or hit something near them. It's been really challenging, especially when you're aggressive with kids at My Gym, or when MOPS childcare tells me you ran a toy into another kid and tried to chest bump someone. We'll figure it out. I think part of it is that you are trying to play with the animals because you are bored. I'm looking into signing you up for preschool. My hope is that you'll have more time to not only learn, but also play with other kids and get more of that attention you're looking for.

You're getting better at swim class, which is really exciting. You don't cry when we go anymore. In fact, you ask me when we'll "go swim", and after class you tell me you had "fun swim". "Fun Coach Evin." You have a great swim coach and you love to tell me what you guys work on in class. You can almost float on your back on your own and you don't cry when you go underwater. Now we just have to work on your kicks and scoops. One time this past month, we got to swim early so you could play in the playroom (which you love, of course), and Papa showed up to come see you swim. Just when we were going to go in, we found out class was cancelled so we went to see Papa's new office and played there for a bit.

Other than my birthday on Feb. 16th, and Dada and my anniversary on Mar. 7, this past month was pretty standard. When we're not at swim, or My Gym, or MOPS (and you at childcare playing "with kids"), we have fun around home...and burn that energy I mentioned. ;) We went to the park a ton, played outside even more than that, and enjoyed general silliness.

"Mama! Helping."

Always trying to take selfies with you. You're not really a fan.

Asking you to take your monthly photo in the chair is getting pleasantly easier. I asked you to take a photo and you climbed right up, sat next to the pillow, and with a little coaxing, you smiled for me. Yay!

Say cheese!

I love you, my little monkey.
Mama

P.S. Promise me you'll always keep dancing.
