You're a year and a half old! Oh my, how did this happen? You're growing up so fast. And this past week is a perfect example. Just in the last week you have learned to say "all done" while wiping your hands to the sides when you are done eating. You've also picked up baby (you lost that one for a while), ball, and duck. When I count 1, 2, 3, you have two and three down pretty well. You'll say them in a row, but you're still not sure what a 2 is (you'll call any number or letter "two", but it's super cute). Then there's "ba". We were trying to teach you "up", and it came out ba. At first ba was only up. Now it's up, down, and come with me as I drag you where I want to go by hand.
You really enjoy walking now. I'd say you walk 95% of the time, with a little bit of crawling every once in a while. You're getting faster too. No running, but a quick walk. You love to grab our hands and walk us outside. We'll go all over the backyard, then up to the front, down and around the street. When Nana and Papa come over you'll walk them out front, then con them into getting into their cars so you can push all the buttons. They eat it up, kid.
What I'm really impressed with is how smart you are. Nana bought you a puzzle that has a bus, firetruck, police car, ship, etc. If we ask you to pick up the bus, or any of the others, you know which one we mean. You're also really good at putting the pieces where they belong. Oh, and I love that you call the train a choo choo. I know you understand way more than you can say, and it's just a joy to watch you show off what you know.
Dada and I have decided to sell our house. We want to move to a bigger house that's closer to the ocean. Your dad would also like to have a pool. This past month you have been a trooper. We've had to leave our house so people could come look at it. We've also been going to other houses to see if they could be our new home. You've been packed up and drug around all over the place, and you've been great overall. To make up for all of that, we've tried to fit lots of fun in too. We've done lots of trips to the park, beach, and just playing outside. So, while this month has been busy, it's also been pretty simple. Next we will move into an apartment while we wait to find our new home. It's going to be much smaller, but I'm hoping the community will have a pool we can use. That will be perfect for the summer.
For Memorial Day weekend, Uncle Micah came over. We barbecued and you played cornhole with Dada and Micah. You guys were out there for hours, but you seemed to be having tons of fun.
You still hate when we brush your teeth, but you love to chew and suck on the toothbrush before we do.
You also still love to get into everything. You're so mobile now you cover the whole house and love to leave a mess wherever you go. I say no to a lot, so I have to choose my battles and let you explore a little too. Which usually means a daily emptying of my purse and wallet, a reorganizing of the drawers, and general mess making. I did tell you no when you tried to play with Ginger's water bowl. You weren't happy with me after that so you decided to lay on the ground and have a tantrum. It was pretty darn funny, so I took a photo. I have to capture all moments.
You also had a first this past month. Sort of. We took you to get your first haircut. There's a place in the mall that has fun seats and tvs playing cartoons for kids, so we thought that'd be fun for you. Nope. You didn't want to be in the fun seats. You'd barely let Dada hold you while the lady tried to cut your hair. So all we really accomplished was cutting some off the back so you had less of a mullet. Honestly, by now it feels like your hair is too long in the back again. Oh well, we like long and shaggy. :) Here's you just after it was cut.
So cute when you sit at your table like a big boy. Even more awesome when you make silly faces that a catch on camera. Yes you still fit in your Christmas jammies.
Naps for you are usually about three hours long. It's glorious and I can get a lot done while you're sleeping...like this blog post right now. Then there's days when you rebel against your nap. If I leave you in your crib long enough you eventually fall asleep. You're never upset and you manage to keep busy. You love to turn the music on for your sleep sheep and you'll just jam out in your crib. I also caught you sucking on one of your socks. Weirdo.
It's going to get a little crazy for these next few months, but it will be a fun adventure too. I know you'll do great.
I love you my boo boo.
Mama
