Bunnies & Basketball

Dear Etrain,

Easter hasn't really been a huge holiday for your dad and I. Growing up I remember doing fun things like dying eggs and having Easter egg hunts. And of course I always loved getting an Easter basket from the Easter bunny. Now that we have you, I have a feeling we'll be getting more into the festivities again.

Last year we took you to see the Easter bunny. You were fast asleep while we waited in line to talk to him and take some photos. We were worried you would cry with all the excitement, camera flashes and sitting on a strange bunny's lap, but you were a trooper. We woke you up just before it was your turn, and you did great with the Easter bunny.

This year, Grammy and I took you to see him again and once again you did great. You were a little wiggle worm to start, and I had to dance around a bit to get you to smile, but then, bam, perfect smile. All of the photos were pretty funny. We told the bunny we wanted him to hide eggs for you next year. By then you'll be on your feet and we'll have a good time trying to find all those eggs.

We had a pretty mellow Easter Sunday. We hung out at home and played with the new toys Nana and Grammy got you. But in the evening Dada and I took you to your first Lakers game. The Lakers are your dad and my favorite basketball team.  Unfortunately they haven't been playing very well this year so the games can be a little frustrating to watch, but this year is Kobe's last year. Kobe Bryant is probably the greatest basketball player of our generation and has been a Laker for almost all of his career. Dada really wanted you to be able to say you saw him play...even if you won't remember it. So we decked you out in some awesome Lakers gear and drove up to LA.

You had a nice nap on the way up, so you were ready to party when we got there. We took some photos while waiting in line to get into Staples Center. I think you were more interested in what was going on around us than taking photos (again) with mom and dad. We had awesome seats just eight rows up from the court so we could see all the action up close. It may have been a little loud for you to start (the Lakers were actually doing well for the first quarter so there was lots of cheering...but then they pulled Kobe out to rest and the other team took over and the cheering declined). You got a little wiggly so we walked around at half time, then watched the third quarter before leaving. I was so proud of you being such a good boy at the game. I can't wait to take you to more.
